Creating Change that Starts with Us and Comes Back to Everyone - Melixir’s Me:cycle Campaign

Melixir’s empty bottle recycling campaign 'Me:cycle', which began in November 2020, officially concluded in October 2024. During the campaign's four-year span, approximately 1,600 customers participated, contributing 1,468kg of empty Melixir bottles. Through collaboration with the global recycling company TerraCycle, these collected bottles were transformed into valuable glass and plastic resources.

The Me:cycle campaign went beyond simple collection and recycling; it became a catalyst for sustainable resource circulation and encouraged customers to take on an active, environmentally conscious role. By offering diverse opportunities for customers to directly engage in the resource cycle, the campaign provided a fresh perspective on everyday environmental protection.

Campaign Highlights

1. Reducing CO2 Emissions

Through the recycling efforts of Me:cycle, Melixir successfully reduced CO2 emissions by 983kg. According to the National Institute of Forest Science, this is equivalent to the annual CO2 absorption of approximately 150 pine trees that are 30 years old.

2. Establishing a Sustainable Consumption Culture

Beyond resource circulation, the Me:cycle campaign served as a platform to promote an eco-friendly consumption culture. The two pop-up stores held in 2021 and 2024 offered customers the meaningful experience of returning bottles, allowing them to actively participate in sustainable practices. This not only contributed to creating a sustainable consumption culture but also shared Melixir’s philosophy and vision for sustainability with a wider audience.

3. Collaboration with Artist: The Upcycled Green Tea Goblet

The campaign also extended into a unique project that blended resource circulation with art. In collaboration with glass artist Seon-Min Park, the 'Upcycled Green Tea Goblet' was crafted from empty bottles of Melixir’s Vegan Balancing Toner. This upcycled goblet involved washing the collected bottles, carving them into the shape of teacups, applying three colors of glaze, and firing them in a kiln, finishing with a ceramic base. This project conveyed a new meaning of recycling and showcased the creativity of collaboration between artist and brand, garnering positive feedback.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us in the journey toward environmental protection and sustainability through the Me:cycle campaign. Building on the insights and achievements from Me:cycle, Melixir will continue to expand our vision for sustainability and strive to drive positive change. Thank you!
