"I grew up in Korea, where plants were more than ingredients. They were a way of life. My mom brewed herbal teas with ginseng when I was sick, and I would make face masks from green tea when my skin felt sensitive. In Korea, we believe in “약식동원(yag-sig-dong-won)”, the idea that food and medicine share the same root. That mindset extends beyond the kitchen into how we care for our skin, using plants as daily rituals of healing.
When I moved to San Francisco, I saw plenty of clean beauty products on the shelves, but something was missing. After working in the beauty industry for over a decade, I realized what truly matters to people: a deeper sense of well-being. It was something I had grown up with but didn’t see there.
I wanted to create something different - skincare that felt natural and nourishing, like the elixirs of my childhood.
That’s why I started Melixir in 2018, a plant-based brand inspired by Korean lifestyle. We blend medicinal herbs, fermentation, and Korean skincare innovation to create gentle, slow-aging routines for sensitive skin. We uphold sustainable practices and ingredients that respect the planet.
Melixir is my way of sharing the Korean philosophy with the world.
